Last month it was Florida, this month it's Colorado! Team Faux is feeling pretty grateful to mosey all over the nation this summer with our pop-up shop series. This week, we're spending a few days in Denver to throw a private shopping experience hosted by Hope Giannetto & Susie Brennan. 10% of all event sales will be donated to There With Care, for families and children facing critical illness.
We thought it'd be fun to explore Denver here on the blog through the eyes of one of our hosts, Hope. Read on to find out more about her and discover why she is so stoked to call Denver home. Also, if you're rolling through Colorado this summer, be sure to check out some of her recommendations below!
Hope Giannetto is a Healthcare Sales Manager, wife, and mom of two young teens living in Denver. A Missouri native, she loves good wine, is always up for a hike or adventure and never turns down an invite to shop, brunch or hang out with family or friends.
What can't you get enough of right now?
Hope: Rosé wine on a sunny patio during happy hour; increasingly rare nights when my kids still want to snuggle and watch a movie; fresh mani/pedis; an ice cold Coors Light at a Rockies baseball game; an early morning hike with epic mountain scenery.
What's the best advice you've ever received? Go!
Hope: In the immortal words of Ferris Bueller: “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”
What do you love the most about Denver?
Hope: I love Denver for its gorgeous weather, great neighborhood districts, amazing food options and proximity to the mountains. Ski or hike in the morning, and be back in town for sushi and martinis before dinner—who wouldn’t love that?
Where are your favorite places in Denver to ______ ?
Hope: Lucile’s for beignets and mimosas. There’s almost always a long wait, but Creole cuisine in the Mile High City? Viv lavi!
Hope: I dare you to find better sushi anywhere than Sushi Den or its next-door sister restaurant, Izakaya Den. Get the New Style sashimi, hotate aburri, black miso cod, Brussels sprouts and—trust me, here—the banana cream pie for dessert, and you will not be disappointed.
Satisfy a sweet tooth?
Hope: Glacier, a neighborhood ice cream spot, is the perfect spot to take the kids after a game, meal, evening walk—actually, any time is a perfect time. Go for the gelato or the butterscotch ice cream. Yum!
Hope: Steam on Old South Pearl is an independent coffee shop serving up sustainable, ethically sourced coffee from micro-roasters. And there’s an old airplane on the pretty patio space. Really. Runner-up: High tea at the Brown Palace for a truly special occasion.
Grab a drink?
Hope: I love Paxti’s for its convenience, but for a night out downtown, nothing beats the Cruise Room in the Oxford Hotel, opened the day after Prohibition was repealed in 1933, it has retained its Art Deco glamour, the cocktail list is inspired, and it’s rumored to be haunted. Ask the bartenders to tell you the stories.
Have a date?
Hope: A fun date night would be heading to Avanti, a cool food hall in the Highlands, where you can choose from different restaurants, grab drinks from the bar and take a seat on the gorgeous rooftop patio with sweeping views of downtown. After, we’d head to a live music show at the Bluebird, Ogden, Fillmore or other venue and follow with a nightcap at a dive bar across the street.
What are some of your favorite places to shop, and why?
We'd like to thank Hope & Susie for hosting this pop up in their own home.
Do you live in Denver? We're starting to put together the pieces of our 2019 pop up tour! What areas of town would you like to see us in for a public event? Also, what are some of your favorite places to eat, drink, and shop in Denver? We want to know, so comment below! <3
